"Hiram T. Sandy Jr.
(October 6, 1945 - May 27, 2017)
Hiram Thomas (Tom) Sandy Jr., 71, passed away on May 27, 2017 in Danville, IN. He was preceded in death by his father Hiram Thomas Sandy Sr. and Mildred Sandy (nee Budd). He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Carolyn Jean Sandy of Brownsburg. He is survived by his son Bradley Sandy (Lita) of Cloverdale, IN, and his daughter Shannon Jo Mansfield (Chris) of Inverness, FL. Left with wonderful memories of him are his son, Donald Spencer (Vickie) of Brownsburg, IN and his daughter, Wendy Spencer Doyle (Luis Perocarpi), also of Brownsburg. He left behind eleven grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Smotherman, Mackenzie, Cameron and Mylei Mansfield, Donnie and Hank Spencer, Charlie, Tommy and Joey Doyle, and Cristian Perocarpi. Tom worked several years for Indiana Bell Telephone in Indianapolis, and eventually went into Truck Driving with Churchill, Overnight and finally UPS as an over the road driver until his retirement in 2011. Tom's passion for racing provided him the opportunity to drive haulers for Panther, SRS and Honda Racing in his retirement. Tom was a volunteer fireman in Cloverdale for eighteen years. He was a supporter of Wheeler Mission and worked to feed the homeless at the Compassion Kitchen on South Shelby Street. He participated as a volunteer for Devon's Blessings. He was a supporter of the Brownsburg Police Department and proud of their service in the community. Arrangements are as follows: A Celebration of Life will be held in Tom's honor at Eaton Hall, Brownsburg Town Hall, 61 N. Green St., Brownsburg, on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4pm until 8pm. Flowers may be sent to Eaton Hall or a donation table will be set up for donations to Wheeler Mission or Friends of the Reserve Division."
